Covid-19 Closure

When we opened Hoosier Mama Pie Company 11 years ago, we worried about a lot of things. We worried about being able to support ourselves and our employees. We worried about the farmers and purveyors we asked to take a chance on us. We worried about being able to make the best possible products for our customers and we worried about being good neighbors in the communities where we opened our shop(s). A global health crisis never entered our minds.

Now, like small businesses all over Chicago and Evanston and the World, we are struggling to come up with a plan to protect our customers, our employees and the business itself. For now, that means closing our doors and isolating at home. As we learn more about the course of the pandemic and the nature of the virus, we may come up with a way to reopen in some form. Our ultimate goal is to be able to open again when the crisis is over to support our employees, our farmers and our communities.

In the meantime, please take this seriously. Take steps to protect yourself and others. If you can, stay at home. If you have to go out for essential work, we appreciate the risk you are taking for all of us. Take a deep breath and remember to practice kindness. If you would like to lend a hand to our staff, we have set up an employee relief fund AND we are donating 100 percent of gift card sales to our employees.
